What is Semi-Permanent Cosmetics?
Semi-Permanent cosmetics, also known as permanent makeup, micro-pigmentation, microblading, embroidery and cosmetic tattooing - is like a traditional tattoo in which color pigments are deposited into the dermal layer of the skin. However, unlike traditional tattoos, permanent makeup is done using semi-permanent pigments. There are a variety of machines and manual tools used for each service and to create different looks.

Why do we use semi-permanent pigments instead of permanent?
There are many factors to consider when working on the face. Exposure to the sun, exfoliating products, and aging are just few that can  affect the look of  pigments in the skin. Even styles and trends change, therefore semi-permanent pigments are easy to remove, change and adjust the size, shape, and color if needed.

How long does semi-permanent last?
Semi-permanent pigments will fade over time and require a color touch up every couple of years. On average, eyebrows need a touch up every 1-3 years, lips 3-5 years, and eyeliner 5+ years.  Frequency of touch- ups depends on a number of factors such as sun exposure, skin type, and color used. All procedures include a second touchup appointment within three months from initial appointment for any perfecting that may be needed.

Is it painful?
Prior to beginning the service we apply a high quality numbing agent as well as numbing agents that are safe to use throughout the procedure. Most clients report feeling little to no discomfort, however if you are experiencing any sensitivity just let us know and we will be happy to add more numbing agent to the area.

How do I know I will be happy with the shape and size of the finished Eyebrows?
Eyebrows are measured for your face and they should follow your natural muscle,  bone structure, and growth pattern. Before we begin your technician will use makeup to draw the desired shape and we won’t begin until you are happy!

What post-procedure care is required?
Each treatment has different aftercare instructions which will be explained to you,  including a detailed handout with instructions and aftercare products.

What should I look for in a Cosmetic Tattooing Technician and Clinic?
Do your research and ask questions! Always check the credentials of the technicians and ensure training was from a well recognized facility that specializes in Cosmetic Tattooing and inquire about what other certifications the Technician has.

Will the procedure be done in a clean environment such as a clinic, where proper sanitation and sterilization of equipment is assured? Look at their work closely. Do they have experience in in shaping brows or selecting colors that are complementary to the clients skin tone and hair color?  Does the finished work look natural? This is especially important for eyebrows as the pattern of the hair strokes should match the natural growth and the shape should comlipment their facial structure. Find out if they are certified with up-to-date safety courses such as Bloodborne Pathogens Certifications. Is the technician and clinic insured, and does the clinic meet all the Health & Safety Regulations?
